Woman stabbed by female drinking partner

The Guyana Police Force is investigating an alleged serious wounding committed on woman Joanna John, age 25 years of Barama Line, Baramita Village, North West District on Friday.

The suspect is a 25 year old unemployed female of the said area which occurred. In a release the police said the incident t the incident ocurred about 21:50 hrs at Barama line, Baramita Village N.W.D.

Enquiries disclosed that on the date and time mentioned above both parties were consuming alcoholic beverage at a shop when an argument ensued between them which led to the suspect arming herself with a broken bottle and inflicting  several gashing wounds about the victim’s body causing her to bleed profusely after which she fell to the ground in a semi-conscious state.

The police were  summoned and responded to the scene where the victim was picked up and taken to the Baramita Health Centre where she was seen and examined by the resident medex and later admitted a patient in the said institution for observation.

The suspect was arrested by the Police and is in custody.

Investigation in progress.
