In a statement, the Guyana Police Force disclosed that the incident occurred at around 13:00h at Riverview, Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

According to the police report, Narine, at around 9:00h on Monday, went to the home of Michelle Russell in Riverview and demanded to be in a relationship with her 14-year-old daughter. The man reportedly warned that failure to heed to his request would result in Russell and her daughter being killed.

Narine subsequently left but returned at about 13:00h, while being armed with two cutlasses in his hand and a knife in his right side pants waist. At time, Russell was at home with her reputed husband, a Fisherman, along with others.

It is alleged that he went to Russell’s apartment and dealt her a chop, with the cutlass, to the right side of her abdomen and on her left hand. He then left the yard saying that he was going to kill someone. The victim was immediately taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

According to the police, after chopping Russell, Narine went and sat on a bench in front of a shop in the neighbourhood and upon seeing the Police, he took a knife and stabbed himself once to the neck.

A police office officer, who went to the crime scene, said he saw Narine sitting on a bench with two cutlasses in his hands and a knife and what appeared to be blood on his body.

“As he   attempted to arrest him, Narine fell to the ground and he observed what appeared to be a wound to the front part of his neck. The rank took possession of the cutlasses and knife while Narine was seen lying on his back with his head facing an eastern direction and feet to the western direction. He was clad in a dark blue boxer and two underwear,” the police force reported.

The body of Jeffery Narine is presently at Lyken funeral Parlour awaiting identification and Post Mortem Examination. Michelle Russell condition is stable.

Investigations are ongoing.
