Injured success squatters identified

The eight female Success, East Coast Demerara (ECD) squatters who were injured by a huge tree which fell on a makeshift structure they were sitting in have been identified.
They are 25-year-old Dallyan Donald, of lot 72 Quamina street BV, ECD; 34-year-old Shevon Bell of lot 154 Fifth Street Success, ECD; 33-year-old Pinky Benjamin of lot 6 Success, ECD; 46-year-old Sunita and Nafeeza Persaud of Lot 28 Industry, ECD; 47-year-old Nalini Lall of Lot 9 Industry, ECD; 40-year-old Sonia Nazir of 254 Third field Cummings Lodge, ECD and Smart (only name given) of Vryheid’s Lust, ECD.

According to the Police, at about 14:10h the eight women were sitting and conversing in the makeshift structure on a dam running east to west on the National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) / Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) Canefields, Success Backlands ECD when a huge tree fell on top of the structure injuring them.

The women received both serious and minor injuries to their head, feet, arm and other parts of their bodies. They were transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital by law enforcement officers.
