According to Samuels, the injured prisoner was able to identify his attackers. The suspected attackers were also positively identified by other prisoners.

“Quick response by Officers on duty with the assistance of other prisoners thwarted an attack on a second prisoner and resulted in both lives being saved,” Samuels further disclosed. He said the improvised weapon reportedly used has been retrieved.

It is alleged that Shivgobin and the other prisoner were targeted for execution by another prisoner.

The matter has been reported to the police and will be fully investigated so that charges can be laid against the relevant persons, the Prison Director assured.
