The cultural relevance of reporting has lost its objective thanks to Guyanese Critic

Dear Editor

We are all born with inalienable rights namely the right of “Freedom of Speech,” but how far are we willing to go?  The heart of journalism a once highly regarded profession is dying because of people like Mikhail  Rodrigues, known as ‘Guyanese Critic.’  No offense Critic, but you are not a real reporter!  Sorry, but reality is sinking in!

The cultural relevance of reporting has lost its objective thanks to Guyanese Critic.  If you are Guyana’s finest then guess what we are in trouble bai?  You might ask yourself how did Guyanese Critic loose his mojo?  Guyanese Critic lost his mojo when he recently posted a live Facebook video aimed at dehumanizing women. In this video, Critic verbally abused a female caller and made sexually suggestive gestures of oral sex. We are surprised that the Gender and Equality Commission (GEC) have not made a comment or intervened?  Not too long ago, a mob of Afro-Guyanese women protested outside of Critic’s residence for his disparaging comments made about Afro-Guyanese.  While a group of angry intelligent, opinionated, and strong Afro-Guyanese women stood outside of his house Critic was hiding under his bed.  The women were ready to wrestle Critic to ground and shave his bird nest?  In that video Critic said “If you want to cast demon out of [people of Africa] give them a book to read, show them the book.  When people [of Africa descent] see papers… they don’t want to be possessed by knowledge; it is confusion.”  If he wants to see a demon all he must do is stare into a mirror and the demon is there looking right back at him.  With surmounting pressure from the Ethic Relations Commission (ERC) Critic was forced to apologize to the Afro-Guyanese community.

What is wrong with Critic?  There seems to be no end to his racial, sexual expletives and derogatory comments on Facebook.  The sad part in all of this is that some people find his behavior acceptable.  American Critic and I don’t’.  We view Guyanese Critic as a racist and a nuisance in the public realm.  He is a danger to society and an embarrassment to the people of Guyana. Here is this guy who once interviewed Former President Jagdeo. I hope President Ali and other cabinet members do not succumb to his request for an interview.  Critic does not espouse any good qualities of fair reporting.  Most importantly, this is not the person we want our children to listen to much less watch on Facebook.  He is no role model.  He is lawless.  Critic’s antics must end, and we must a stop to his despicable behavior on Facebook. Many viewers perceive him as vile and brainless.

In closing, America Critic and I strongly urge followers to shut Critic down.  Put and end to his unethical behavior.  Do not subscribe to his Live Morning Show. Do not be an enabler to his racist, vile, and dehumanizing behaviour.  Enough is enough!

Regards

Leon Suseran
