61-year old woman latest COVID-19 fatality

A 61-year-old woman from the Barima-Waini Region (Region One) is the latest to die from the COVID-19, the Ministry of Health reported. The woman’s death brings the country’s total number of deaths to 103.

On Saturday, the Ministry announced 47 new cases of the virus bringing the total of confirmed cases to 3505 and appealed to the public to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 emergency measures (No. 9) which remain in effect until October 31, 2020.

The measures emphasises the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home; the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others;
and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The Ministry urges persons displaying any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, or need any additional information, to contact the COVID-19 Hotline 231-1166, 226-7480 or 624-6674 IMMEDIATELY or visit us at www.health.gov.gy.
