25-year-old Keiron Taylor is now a free man after a not guilty verdict was returned at the conclusion of his trial, for the 2015 murder outside the Ghetto Flex night spot in Albouystown, Georgetown.
Making submissions on his behalf during the trial, Attorney Nigel Hughes made a no-case submission after the main witness in the State’s case, Troy Abrams, said he could not remember much. The no-case submission was upheld by the court and a verdict of not guilty was handed down.
Taylor was charged and was committed to stand trial in the High Court in March of 2017, along with Clive Forde, for the murder of 22-year-old Senasie Lewis, who was gunned down on September 4, 2015.
According to previous reports, Lewis of Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, was shot nine times by armed men who approached him on foot. The men immediately escaped after the execution in a waiting car that was parked on Sussex Street. Three other persons were injured in the shooting.
However, Forde was shot dead by police after escaping Lusignan Prison in July 2017, leaving Taylor alone to face the trial. Tuesday’s court hearing was the first to be held under the new regulations occasioned by the restrictions imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
