Man injured in three-vehicle smash-up in Berbice

The two extensively damaged trucks and the damaged motor car in the aftermath of the accident.

Two trucks crashed into each other on the West Coast Berbice Highway earlier on Friday with one driver escaping without injury and the other hospitalised.
The driver of a motorcar  which was hit by one of the trucks after the head on collision escaped without injury.

All three vehicles were extensively damaged.
Reports are that the trucks, one owned by Bakewell and the other owned by Banks DIH were approaching each other around 09:00hrs on the #28 Village Public Road when the collision occurred.

The driver of the Bakewell truck identified as Arjune was trapped in the cab of the vehicle for several minutes until he was rescued by Fire Service Officers who used a cutting machine to extricate him from the crushed cab.

He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries to his lower right leg but in a stable condition.
Police ranks on the West Berbice are investigating the accident.
