A 23-year-old East Coast Demerara (ECD) vendor was killed in the wee hours of Saturday during a suspected hit-and-run accident in front of his Mon Repos home. Dead is Devanand Bansie of Lot 27 Mon Repos Railway Embankment, ECD.

In a statement on Saturday, the Guyana Police Force said it has launched an investigation into the alleged hit-and-run fatal accident. The police suspect that the alleged accident occurred between 02:00hrs and 04:00hrs on Saturday in front of the victim’s residence.
According to the police report, after celebrating his 23rd birth anniversary, Bansie went home around 02:00hrs but could not gain access to the house because the doors were locked.
