Juvenile in custody for robbing ‘water man’

A salesman attached to Demerara Crystal Water was robbed by three bandits early Thursday morning even as he was distributing water to the community of Cummings Lodge.

In announcing that an investigation has been launched into the armed robbery, the Guyana Police Force disclosed that the three male suspects are “identifiable,” and a 15-year-old boy is in custody assisting with the investigation.

The victim, 35-year-old Joel Kisram of 13th Field Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown, was selling water in his community at around 06:30hrs when one of three suspects rode a bicycle in the path of his vehicle. Kisram was driving motor vehicle GKK 1216 at the time.
According to the police report, one of three suspects threw his bicycle in the path of Kisram’s van causing him to stop.
“Having stopped the vehicle, the victim was then approached and attacked by the suspects, one of whom dealt him two punctures to his left hand…,” the police detailed.

The Demerara Crystal Water salesman and driver was relieved of GUY$1,300 and a Samsung Galaxy cellphone valued GUY$45,000, before the bandits made good their escape. The Village Voice was unable to ascertain what weapon or instrument was used to commit the robbery.
Subsequent to receiving the report, the police, acting upon information received, arrested a 15-year-old juvenile, who is assisting with the investigation.
