A father of three died on the spot on Sunday afternoon after he was struck down on a pedestrian crossing on the Mon Repos Public Road.
Forty-five-year old Vickram Budhram, of 24 First Street Mon Repos, according to reports was flung in the air by the impact of the speeding motorcar bearing registration, PPP5422. He was then dragged some distance by the vehicle before it came to a stop over 25 feet away.
Budhram, a carpenter, was at the time attempting to cross from the northern to the southern side of the four lane East Coast roadway. Budhram had completed crossing the northern side and was waiting at the median to cross the southern carriageway, when he was struck.

The vehicle was proceeding west on the southern carriageway at the time. Police arrived on the scene shortly after and the car, a silver Toyota Premio, was impounded, while the driver was taken into custody. Aside from the East Coast accidents, over the weekend accidents also occurred in the city leaving one dead and three others injured.
