A fire early Tuesday morning completely destroyed the Criminal Investigation Department Office (CID) at Anna Regina Police in Region Two.
The fire started around 05:00hrs. Reports reaching Village Voice Gy is that a policeman had gone to check the compound where the building is housed when he saw fire emanating from the CID office. The Guyana Fire Service was summoned and firefighters were able to contain the blaze to that section of the building. Several records of investigations being conducted were destroyed in the fire. Village Voice Gy was told that kerosene was found in the CID office. There have been several fires in recent times. Only recently an attempt was made to burn down the Suddie Magistrate’s Court. Magistrate’s chair as well as some other documents was destroyed.
