Six new COVID cases from 43 tests

The Ministry of Public Health has recorded six new cases of the novel coronavirus after forty-three tests were conducted within the last 24 hours.
The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 256, this is inclusive of 12 deaths and 117 recoveries. Some 125 active cases are in isolation at various facilities across Guyana, 16 persons in institutional quarantine and one patient in the COVID-19 ICU.
To date, 2,711 tests have been conducted with 2,455 of those being negative. Persons are again reminded to continue practising social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out. As of July 3, 2020, the WHO is reporting that globally the confirmed cases stand at 10,710,005 with 517,877 deaths. While in the Regions of the Americas, positive cases now stand at 5,445,710 with a total of 255,702 deaths.
