According to Officer-in-Charge, Georgetown Prison ‘B’ (Holding Bay, Lusignan), Senior Superintendent of Prisons (ag), Deoraj Gyandat, at about 10:27 hours on November 26, 2020, convicted prisoner Diquan Hamilton and Shadrack King aka Mark King got into a fight.

Hamilton is currently serving a two-year sentence for attempted robbery and King was serving two years for robbery.

A police release detailed that an alarm was raised and both prisoners were taken to the prison infirmary where it was discovered that King had received a stab wound to his left forearm and Hamilton had received a single penetrating wound to the left lateral thorax.

Hamilton was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for further medical attention. He was admitted for 24 hours observation.  His injury is considered non-life-threatening.

Director of Prisons, Gladwin Samuels said that the police have launched an investigation into the matter.
