Lall Challenges President Ali to Match Unity Rhetoric with Action

New Region Four REO vows people centred, accountable leadership

The Institute For Action Against Discrimination (IFAAD) strongly condemns the Ali’s Government and the Guyana Police Force for their failure to provide adequate security for visiting United States (U.S) elected officials. This oversight jeopardises not only the safety of these officials but also strains Guyana-US diplomatic relations and the principles of international cooperation.
Guyana has long been an advocate for democracy and a strong ally of the U.S. Foreign visits by elected officials from any country should be treated as a matter of high importance, warranting comprehensive safety measures by the government.
It is unfortunate the government has wantonly shirked its responsibility to provide and implement crucial security arrangements for the U.S elected officials currently in Guyana.
Part of the delegation arrived last evening and was met by IFAAD team, Roysdale Forde S.C, M.P, former Mayor Pt. Ubraj Narine and ret’d Lt Col Lelon Saul.
IFAAD believes that such negligence in protecting foreign officials could be perceived as a lack of commitment to maintaining strong bilateral relations and human rights standards.
The organisation is urging the Aliย  government and the Guyana Police Force to rectify this situation immediately by implementing appropriate security protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of the members of the visiting delegation.ย  The delegation will be here until November 19th.
By failing in this regard, Guyana risks damaging its standing as a reliable partner in the international community.
Furthermore, undermining the safety of esteemed U.S delegation members could potentially harm future diplomatic engagements, which are crucial for fostering friendly relations between countries.
IFAAD calls upon Ali’s government and the Guyana Police Force to take immediate action to address and implement of comprehensive security measures will help restore trust and demonstrate Guyana’s commitment to upholding international norms and values, including the protection of these visiting dignitaries.
As an organisation dedicated to combating discrimination and promoting social justice, the Institute for Action Against Discrimination emphasises the importance of equality, fairness, and respect.
The organisation said it stands firmly against any actions that compromise the safety of elected officials, whether they are from Guyana or abroad.
