It is clear that those in opposition, buoyed by Burke’s courage, appear emboldened, and that’s the underlying apprehension for many. It’s the rising strength and unified voice of the community that many fear. It is essential that, while valuing the freedom of the press and its democratic role, influential platforms like Stabroek News offer more balanced and encompassing perspectives on the issues plaguing our society, or else courageous citizens like Rickford Burke are left to deal with the matters condignly.
