Georgetown, Guyana – In a groundbreaking initiative to support parental involvement in education, STEMGuyana has unveiled its highly anticipated Parent Academy. This innovative program aims to empower parents by equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge to assist their children in core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science.

STEMGuyana Operations Manager, Alisha Koulen, expressed her enthusiasm for the new initiative, highlighting its focus on addressing parents’ literacy issues. “When I joined STEMGuyana, one of the aspects that truly resonated with me was the dedication to helping parents overcome any barriers to supporting their children’s education,” Koulen shared.

Recognizing the crucial role parents play in their children’s academic journey, the Parent Academy provides a platform where parents can now actively participate in their child’s learning experience. By signing up for the academy, parents gain access to comprehensive lessons tailored for grades 1 to 10, covering essential subjects required for a well-rounded education.

The program offers the convenience of online learning, ensuring flexibility for busy parents. With the help of dedicated online instructors, parents can receive personalized guidance and support throughout their learning journey. Koulen emphasized the confidentiality of the academy, assuring parents that it provides a safe and secure environment for their educational development.

What makes this initiative even more remarkable is that it is entirely free of charge since it is sponsored under the Learning Pods program by IDBLab. STEMGuyana’s commitment to empowering parents and fostering a strong educational foundation for the community shines through its generosity in offering this invaluable resource without any financial burden.

To take advantage of this exceptional opportunity, interested parents can sign up for the Parent Academy by visiting the [Registration Link]. Koulen encourages parents to share this information with others who may benefit from this support, extending the reach of the program to even more families in need.

Weekly Zoom sessions taught by volunteer Lester Moses, who is an Amazon.com employee, will be held to facilitate the Parent Academy, with two time slots available for parents’ convenience. Participants can choose between Fridays from 6 to 7pm or Saturdays from 11am to noon, ensuring flexibility while promoting active engagement in their children’s education.

With the launch of the Parent Academy, STEMGuyana reaffirms its commitment to building a community of informed and empowered parents. By arming parents with the necessary knowledge and skills, this initiative promises to strengthen the educational landscape for generations to come.
