The murder took place just before midnight and according to reports, the woman, Amrita Rahim was in bed when her husband, Taijram Rahim stabbed her left side breast.
According to the couple’s eldest child, the duo had just returned home from a relative’s birthday party where they were both imbibing.

Taijram accused Amrita of infidelity and a heated argument ensued. Amrita threatened to leave the martial home. This enraged 32-year-old Taijram, who picked up a knife and stabbed his wife after which he fled the scene. He was arrested shortly after by Police.
Reports are that the couple were experiencing marital challenges and would constantly argue.

Amrita, who was described by loved ones as a kind and loving person, was picked up in an unconscious state by relatives and taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations are ongoing.
