Kennesha Leacock’s outstanding performance throughout the tournament earned her the Most Valuable Player award. Karen Abrams (K Ann Abrams), a former National Team Captain and NCAA Collegiate standout player, sponsored all the trophies for the event.

In the aftermath of the tournament, Michael Singh, the GABF President, expressed regret for the lack of support shown to female basketball players. He acknowledged the need for increased investment and pledged to provide the necessary resources for the development of female basketball in Guyana.

Singh thanked several individuals for their contributions to the female basketball program, including Ann Gordon, Dave Causway, Zico, and Chris Wayne Bowman. Tournament organizer, Rawle Toney was also acknowledged for running a successful tournament under challenging weather conditions.

Michael Singh noted that, “The GBF will now turn its attention towards supporting and empowering female basketball players.” Singh hopes to increase the number of games and training opportunities available for young female players, encouraging them to pursue their passion for the sport.

The GBF expresses gratitude to all those who supported the event, including Ms. Rowena Rambaran and her WRSI crew, Karen Abrams, and other sponsors who provided financial support. The tournament was a resounding success, and the GBF is already looking forward to next year’s event.
