Dear Editor,
It behooves every decent law abiding citizen to congratulate the top brass of the Guyana Police Force for the diligence in publishing as wanted men the names and addresses of persons allegedly involved in the June disturbances at the Mon Repos Market.
As a citizen I note with interest that it is proposed to charge those persons under the very serious act of terrorism. I have spoken with my former boss, a man who has had many years in public life and perhaps knows Guyana better than anyone else and he advises when this matter is before the Court, it will be subjugated, and therefore, as I understand it, cannot be subject for a public discourse.
In the meantime, however, terrorism is clearly defined in international law and relations and as I understand it is intended to protect the people and state from serious and planned acts of aggression and destabilization.
Recently, and yet to be identified, a rather apprehensive person pumped twelve bullets into a man for all intents and purposes. End of story. There is the case of Paper Shorts, apparently the end of story.
There is of course a painfully long list of unsolved murders and crimes that have in essence terrorised the country but it appears that if there are the right connections, end of story.
I look forward to some of the other people being charged and hauled before the Courts, in the not too distant future. If we are to secure real justice, harmony and peace, the Government through its arm, the Guyana Police Force, must give the appearance that they are even-handed.
Finally, when will we do something about the acts of terrorism being committed by the Oil, Gas and Gold giants on the people of Guyana and one gets the impression, in spite of all the talk and sand-dancing, it will be the end of the story.
Sections of the media are treated like little boys and not allowed access to certain visitors. End of story.
We’ve gone before an International gathering and said that contracts are in the public domain knowing that this is not even a half truth but again end of story.
My offspring and the man above are watching.
