The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs will today host a prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the Amerindian Heritage Pageant. The pageant which was held on Saturday sees Ms. Kristie Emma Rambharat adjudged the Queen, based on score. She beat fellow contestants by securing a total of 768 points. According to the ministry’s release, the scoring was based on a compound scoring system that was implemented to avoid undermining any efforts of the delegates in various segments. There were six segments and a final question that went towards tallying the score for each contestant. But inspite of the stated, the wrong person was announced the winner. The Region 5 delegate, not the Region 7 delegate, was announced the winner causing embarrassment for the delegates, families and attendees.

The score reads

Region 7 – 768 – Queen – Miss Amerindian Heritage 2022

Region 5 – 626.5 – 3rd Runner Up

Region 6 – 626.5 – 3rd Runner Up

The Ministry stated they understand the judges’ decisions are final, however wish to point out  the judges’ score sheets were tabulated incorrectly by the Tally Clerk which resulted in erroneous figures which has affected the outcome of the announced results of the Amerindian Heritage Pageant 2022.

“This Pageant continues to serve as a platform for empowerment of young Amerindian women across the length and breadth of Guyana. The Ministry applauds the ten talented and brilliant young women who gave us an amazing show as we continue our Heritage Month festivities.
