Acting Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken, and Assistant Commissioner of Police and Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Wendell Blanham called a press conference last Wednesday to prove statements made by Detective Sergeant Dion Bascom, in a social media post, were false.
The Police sought to debunk the claim made by Bascom that he took Rondell Bacchus to Eve Leary Headquarters. They presented their evidence as proof Bascom was being dishonest.
Bacchus, in subsequent interview with Travis Chase, corroborated Bascom’s statement

The Police said they do not have the technological capability to track and trace calls.
Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Clinton Conway, told Village Voice the Police has triangulating equipment that can track and trace calls. Conway further advised members of the Force were sent abroad to be trained in the usage of the equipment.
Sources told Village Voice the Police should have first sought to conduct thorough investigations into the allegations made by Bascom, instead of first approaching the public to debunk the sergeant’s allegations. These unfolding events could adversely impact the credibility of the officers who were involved and participated in the press conference. Similarly, the image and credibility of the Force will attract further scrutiny and ridicule.
