TWO MEN ESCAPE, ABANDONING 1,205 GRAMS OF CANNABIS, MOTORCYCLE AFTER STOPPED BY POLICE

Police ranks attached to the Timehri Police Station who were on mobile patrol duty on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, seized over 1,200 grams of suspected cannabis and a motorcyle.

The ranks were on patrol in the vicinity of Yarrowkabra, Linden-Soesdyke Highway at about 20:35 hrs when they observed two males on a motorcycle, with the pillion rider carrying a black bulky haversack on his back.

The ranks signalled the men to stop to which they complied, and as the ranks were about to exit the vehicle, the pillion rider dropped the said haversack and both men then ran into some nearby bushes on the side of the road, escaping.

The haversack when searched, revealed two large transparent bags which contained leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The suspected cannabis and the motorcycle were taken to the Timehri Police Station where the cannabis was weighed and it amounted to 1,205 grams.
