…Carol Joseph says police looking for a charge against her

Popular APNU AFC Activist in Region 5 (Mahaica/Berbice) Ms Carol Joseph reported to the Criminal Investigations Department earlier on Tuesday to answer allegations of electoral fraud in the March 2nd General and Regional Elections.
Contrary to reports in social media she was not arrested but travelled to Georgetown on her own accord after being told that the police wanted to speak to her.
Ms Joseph said she left home at Hopetown at around 10:00 hrs for the CID Headquarters at Georgetown at the invitation of the police.
At Georgetown she was accompanied to the CID Headquarters by her Lawyer Mr Nigel Hughes.
Mr. Hughes later told Village Voice that the interview had to be aborted because Ms Joseph said she was feeling unwell.
“They were only able to ask her one question and that was whether she knew someone named Keith Lowenfield and then they had to stop,” Hughes said.
He disclosed that Ms Joseph was ordered to post $100,000 bail and report to the CID Headquarters on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile as news of her detention spread a group of APNU AFC supporters turned up in an impromptu protest outside of the CID Headquarters in solidarity with Ms Joseph.
In a brief comment Ms Joseph said Monday night she hadn’t a clue as to what was being demanded of her by the police and so she retained her right to remain silent”.
“It seems to me that they the police were told to find a charge for me but I am unafraid; I have to report back to the Police on Thursday and I will show them that I am as solid as a rock; they cannot break me.”
