The robbery under arms reportedly took place at around 12:45hrs on Friday (April 29), the Guyana Police Force said in a statement.

According to the police, the victim – Chrisann Alleyne – was relieved of one laptop bag valued $10,000, one black HP laptop valued $45,500, one iPhone XR with Digicel Sim valued $100,000, one Samsung J5 phone without sim valued $32,000, a wireless ear piece valued $10,000, brown purse value $1,000, one six penny weight gold chain valued $110,000 and one yellow chain value $1,000 and $30,000 cash.

The stolen items valued $339,000.

According to the police report, the victim was walking along Greenman’s Street, when a black heavily-tinted motorcar bearing registration number #PSS 3230 stopped next to her, and a man exited from the front passenger seat of the car and approached her with a knife.

The criminal then relieved her of her valuables. The thief then walked away towards the waiting car and the victim said she followed behind, while pleading with him to return her items, to no avail.

The victim said the front passenger door of the vehicle was opened and she saw the driver.

The two men escaped in the said vehicle in a western direction. The teacher made a report, and the police visited the scene and questioned several persons in the area.

Checks were made for the two suspects and a 27-year-old Grove, East Bank Demerara man was seen driving motorcar PSS 3230 and was intercepted by Police ranks.

The suspect was arrested and placed into custody and his motorcar was lodged at the Leonora Police Station.

Statements were taken as the investigations continue.
