IDPADA-G credit union holds AGM, elects executive committee

The International Decade for People of African Descent Assembly – Guyana (IDPADA-G) Cooperative Credit Union Society held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, to elect a new Management Committee and to transact its statutory business, including consideration of the Annual Statement of Accounts and Balance Sheet, and the Auditor’s Report.
The meeting which was held virtually was attended by 38 members who approved the Financial and Auditor’s Reports that were presented, and participated in the election of the new Management Committee. Ms. Donna Todd from the Credit Union League was in attendance and conducted the seamless election.

Ms. Miryom Levi, Ms. Lyris Primo, Mr. John Bennett, Mr. Brian Gittens and Ms. Hazel Bentinck, who all served on the previous committee, were reelected. Mr. Everette L. Carberry, Mr. Vincent Alexander, Pastor Derek Anderson, Mr. Darryl Ng-A-Qui, Ms. Anicia Junor and Mr. Nigel Hawke, are the newly elected members who complete the 11-member committee.
The International Decade for People of African Descent 2015–2024 was proclaimed by the
United Nations (UN) General Assembly under the theme “People of African descent: recognition, justice and development – – the Credit Union seeks to contribute to the realization of the goals of the Decade for African Guyanese.

The IDPADA-G Co-operative Credit Union Ltd., registered on Feb. 7, 2020, envisages itself as becoming the foremost financial institution for Guyanese of African descent, by promoting thrift and financial literacy to ensure the growth and development of its members. The goal of the credit union is to satisfy the financial management needs of its members, and provide access to loans, deposit facilities, investment opportunities, and grants. The Credit Union is located at Lot 14 North Road, Bourda, Georgetown.
