NIS Melanie branch closed due to COVID cases

The National Insurance Scheme (NIS) has announced that, due to incidents of COVID-19, its branch at Melanie, East Coast Demerara will be temporarily closed until Monday.

The decision was made by the NIS Management with the closure taking effect from August 19, 2021, at 12:00hrs.

This period will facilitate the testing of staff for the virus and the sanitizing of the building and compound. All local offices including the office on Camp and Bent remain open to the public. Pensioners are encouraged to utilize the services of these other locations.

The NIS is one of several Government agencies that halted their acceptance of unvaccinated persons without a negative COVID-19 PRC test in keeping with orders from the Government.
