36 deaths less than halfway through May

In less than halfway into the month of May, there have been 36 COVID-19 deaths which is already more than half the deaths of April — the month which carried the highest number of deaths to the pandemic to date in Guyana at 66.

Also, the deaths for 2021 up to present have surpassed the total number of deaths for 2020 at 171 as opposed to 164.

For the month thus far up to May 13, 2021, more persons have died from Region Four with this number at 19. Meanwhile the deaths within other regions are as follows: Region One – 1; Region Two – 0; Region Three – 6; Region Five – 1 ; Region Six – 4; Region Seven – 2; Region Eight – 0; Region Nine – 1 and Region Ten – 2.

Meanwhile, in keeping with the general statistics for Guyana, there are more male deaths and females. While 23 males died thus far in May, 13 females have died.
