Three more Covid deaths push toll to 338

…180 new cases, 16 persons in ICU  

Guyana on Saturday recorded three more Covid-19 deaths pushing the total deaths here to 338. Also 180 new cases were recorded and 16 persons are listed as critical and in the Intensive Care Unit.

Guyana’s justice reforms lead to quicker criminal proceedings, reduced backlog

In a press release the Ministry of Health said that as of May 14, 2021, three more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have died. The patients were admitted with COVID-19 like symptoms but died while receiving care at our medical institutions. Samples were taken at the time of admission which subsequently returned positive tests.

The MOH expresses sincerest condolences to the families of the deceased and said it will make every effort to provide all the necessary support during this difficult time to render any assistance needed. The Ministry is also appealing to the general public to respect the confidentiality of the two deceased and their families and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.

Meanwhile, the Ministry also reported that 180 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded on Saturday and 16 persons are now in the ICU.
