The Irfaan Ali government has scrapped the board of directors of the Guyana National Newspaper Limited.
The board was installed last year August by then Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo.
The board was chaired by new Ms. Juretha Fernandes and included Mr. Terrence Moore, Mr. Amar Panday, Ms. Dawn Gardner, Mrs. Ernestine Leonard, Mr. Ganesh Mahipaul and Ms. Nicola Trotman.
Nagamootoo at the time of commissioning the board had explained that there was much work to be done at the state-owned media to ensure that they operate not only as a viable business, but fulfill their mandate to let the people know what the government is doing.
