The Ministry of Public Works said that the solar panels for 21 traffic lights in Georgetown were ripped out by thieves over a period of two days.
Twelve of the panels were from lights on Regent and Cummings streets, seven from Brickdam and Brummell Place and two from Cummings Street and South Road.
The ministry is once again pleading with public-spirited citizens to report any suspicious acts and or theft of traffic lights components to the nearest police station or the Ministry of Public Works Public Relations Department via telephone on 592-227-0799 or Facebook at Ministry of Public Works or via email at mopiguyana@gmail.com.
