The Guyana Amazon Warriors have become the first team to secure a place in the 2026 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) playoffs after extending their perfect campaign to six victories with a commanding seven-wicket defeat of the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at Providence on Sunday. Guyana restricted the Patriots to 128, before reaching 132 for three with nine balls remaining to maintain their unbeaten record and strengthen their position at the top of the CPL standings.
The victory was built around an outstanding all-round performance from Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi, whose four-wicket haul helped dismantle the Patriots’ middle order. Nabi finished with 4-17, while Romario Shepherd claimed 3-16 and Shamar Joseph 2-22 as St Kitts and Nevis struggled to build momentum after making a promising start.
Alick Athanaze provided the main resistance for the Patriots, scoring 52 from 39 balls, but wickets continued to fall around him.
Nabi removed Jason Holder, Wanindu Hasaranga, Navin Bidaisee and Jeremiah Louis as the Patriots were eventually bowled out for 128.
The target presented little difficulty for the Warriors, particularly after Rahmanullah Gurbaz provided an explosive start.
Gurbaz smashed 39 from just 25 deliveries, including a six from his first scoring delivery, helping Guyana race to 58 during the powerplay.
The Warriors briefly lost momentum when Mavindra Dindyal and Shimron Hetmyer fell in quick succession, leaving the home side at 78 for three.
But Shai Hope and Nabi settled the innings, putting together an unbeaten 54-run partnership. Hope finished unbeaten on 38 from 44 balls, while Nabi contributed a fluent 25 from 21 deliveries.
The result gives the Warriors six wins from six matches and confirms their progression to the knockout phase.
The Patriots, meanwhile, remain in a precarious position in fifth place with only one group match remaining.
For Guyana, the result continues what has been an exceptional CPL campaign and puts the Warriors in a commanding position as the tournament moves toward its decisive stage.
The Warriors will now look to maintain their momentum and secure the strongest possible position heading into the playoffs.
