The Guyana Amazon Warriors remained unbeaten in the 2026 Caribbean Premier League on Friday, September 4, launching their Providence home leg with a commanding eight-wicket victory over the Jamaica Kingsmen.

Jamaica posted 159 for seven from its 20 overs, but the Warriors made light work of the target, reaching 160 for two in just 17.2 overs—sealing victory with 16 deliveries to spare.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz led the charge with a blistering 54 from 35 balls, while Mavendra Dindyal provided an explosive start with 33 from 17 deliveries. Captain Shai Hope then anchored the chase with an unbeaten 39, while Shimron Hetmyer finished the job with an unbeaten 30 from 17 balls.

The Warriors’ bowlers had already laid the foundation for the victory.

Dwaine Pretorius struck twice early, removing Kirk McKenzie for one and Keacy Carty for 18, while Khary Pierre also claimed two wickets as Jamaica struggled to build momentum.

The Kingsmen slumped to 87 for six before Hassan Khan launched a remarkable counterattack. He smashed an unbeaten 62 from just 29 balls, including six sixes, to lift Jamaica to 159 for seven.

It proved nowhere near enough.

The victory extended the Warriors’ perfect start to five wins from five matches, keeping them as the only unbeaten team in the tournament. Friday’s match was also the first of their five scheduled home games in Guyana.

For the home crowd at Providence, the performance offered another indication of the Warriors’ depth. The side did not need another spectacular Hetmyer innings to dominate, with Gurbaz, Dindyal, Hope and a disciplined bowling attack doing the damage.

The Warriors had already produced one of the tournament’s standout individual performances when Hetmyer smashed an unbeaten 111 against the Trinbago Knight Riders, equalling the CPL record for the fastest century.

But Friday’s victory demonstrated that Guyana’s threat extends well beyond one batsman.

With the CPL regular season moving toward its decisive stages, the defending champions have established themselves as one of the teams to beat.

Five matches. Five victories. The Amazon Warriors are rolling—and Providence is becoming their fortress.
