Dear Editor,
The tradition of puppeteers, using strings to have the puppets perform on stage dates back more than 4000 years, long before theatre and the cinema. Today, in modern times, it is understood that there are puppets performing for the citizens carrying out the functions of ministers, managers, and envoys.
However, the situation in Guyana is reminiscent of the old story, an arrangement where the puppeteers, pulling strings as of old, deftly and skilfully determine what we see and hear in our Guyana.
From all accounts we are witnessing at least two puppeteers dictating what we see and hear in Guyana. A good example is the pre and post situation relating to MV Barima tragedy. Editorials, letters and protest have dealt extensively with this matter.
So, Editor and citizens is my postulation on target?
Yours truly,
Elder Hamilton Green
