Dear Editor,
It is unfortunate that whenever I speak the truth, supporters of the PPP/C believe they can attack and intimidate me. I have nothing to hide. My record as a Minister in the Coalition Government can withstand scrutiny at any time. I never used State resources for personal gain or benefit, nor did my family receive any advantage because of political influence.
To the likes of Kevon Lorimer, you may continue your propaganda, but the facts matter.
In December 2019, the entire country heard what Bharrat Jagdeo publicly alleged about me. I did not run or hide. I immediately challenged those allegations with evidence. I took the matter to court, produced my bank loan agreement and other relevant personal documents, and the evidence was examined before the court. The court ruled in my favour.
Rather than spreading misinformation, I encourage you and others to do your research before repeating allegations in defence of your political leaders.
I continue to call for transparency and accountability. Therefore, I challenge President Irfaan Ali to:
• Produce the evidence regarding the acquisition of the reported 150 acres of farmland, including information concerning the additional acreage beyond the 20 acres reportedly allocated in 2011.
• Produce the relevant bank loan agreements relating to the acquisition and development of those lands.
• Produce evidence detailing the financing and development of the farmland.
• Produce the communications relating to the allegations involving Senior Mohamed, so that the public can assess the facts for themselves.
No amount of personal attacks or attempts to discredit me will succeed. I will continue to speak out against wrongdoing and corruption wherever I believe it exists.
I am not afraid of anyone. My commitment remains to truth, accountability, and the people of Guyana.
Yours truly,
Annette Ferguson
Former Member of Parliament
