Is this what the EPA, GPF, etc approved?

Dear Editor,

Easter Night from Hell!

While many spent Easter night in peace with their families, I endured something entirely different.

From my home on Middle Road, La Penitence, the night was filled with the pounding bass of loud music and the terrifying sound of gunshots. Yes, this was my Easter night.

There was no prior notice to residents. No courtesy. No attempt by the promoters or the police to inform the community, as is expected for events of this scale. Not even the elderly residents, who deserve the most consideration, were given the respect of being informed.

Instead, the street was blocked off and the noise began. The event was hosted in an area already known as a hotspot for crime, where deadly shootings have occurred before.

What makes this even more concerning is that the event was held at the home of APNU community councilor, Ms. Yvonne Ferguson. One would expect that someone in such a position would prioritize the safety and well-being of residents, not contribute to an environment of disturbance and fear.

It is now close to 4 a.m. as I write this, and the noise continues, along with the sound of gunshots. Calls were made to the police multiple times, yet there was little to no intervention. Even when officers reportedly came, the situation was not properly addressed.

This raises serious questions.
Is this what is considered acceptable under EPA regulations regarding noise nuisance?
Is there no longer a protocol to inform residents about events involving loud music and road closures?
Is this how senior citizens are expected to spend a sacred holiday such as Easter?

If this is the conduct being encouraged or overlooked by a community representative, then who are residents supposed to turn to for protection and accountability?

This is not just about noise. This is about respect, safety, and the basic right to peace within one’s home.

Yours truly,
Karmila Ramjin
