Karpowership today marked the launch of the Karpowership – GTI AutoCAD Technology Lab at the Government Technical Institute (GTI), as part of its ongoing efforts on skills development programs to support technical education, capacity-building, and youth development and job creation in Guyana.

As part of the initiative, Karpowership, in honour of its founder Rauf Osman Karadeniz, provided high-performing desktop computers to support AutoCAD-based instruction at the institute. The contribution enhances an existing instructional space and expands students’ access to digital design tools commonly used across engineering, construction, and technical disciplines.

The launch brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education (MOE), faculty, students, and Karpowership global and local teams to recognise the value of partnerships that strengthen practical, skills-based learning.

Principal of the Government Technical Institute, Mr. Collis Bess, welcomed the support, noting that access to modern computer equipment plays an important role in improving the delivery of technical programmes and preparing students for real-world applications.

Speaking on behalf of Karpowership, Ms. Beyza Özdemir, Americas Regional Director of Commercial Operations, reaffirmed the company’s focus on making targeted contributions that support long-term skills development.

“At Karpowership, we believe that supporting education is an important part of building sustainable communities. By providing essential technology, we aim to help students develop practical skills that can support their future careers.”

Keynote speaker, Dr. Ritesh Tularam, Deputy Chief Education Officer (Technical) stated, “this initiative underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in education and the critical role of modern technical training in national development”.

The event also included a ribbon cutting and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, followed by demonstrations by GTI students showcasing AutoCAD applications and digital drafting techniques.

The AutoCAD Technology Lab is expected to support approximately one thousand first and second-year full-time engineering students yearly, across multiple programmes at GTI and further strengthening students’ exposure to industry-standard digital tools.
