La Retraite housewife found dead in yard

A 21-year-old housewife of La Retraite Squatting area was found dead on Wednesday in her yard with a black telephone wire in her hand.

According to reports, the woman, Yashoda ‘Debbie’ Andrews was found motionless at about 15:37h in her yard. Police said that upon visiting the location, they found the woman laying face down in the yard. Her body was checked for marks of violence but none were visible.

Neighbours told Police that Andrews was found dead with the black telephone wire in her hand but it was removed by persons who rushed to her aid before calling the Police. When the Police arrived, the wire was near Andrews’ body.

The woman was taken to the West Demerara Hospital where she was pronounced dead by a doctor.

Investigations are ongoing.
