A police report posted on Team Mohamed’s social media page, led by We Invest In Nationhood (WIN) Party leader Azruddin Mohamed, alleges that Danny Persaud, driver for Region 6 Police Commander Shivpersaud Bacchus, threatened a civilian with a firearm in Berbice on Monday night.

According to the report, Persaud, driving a heavily tinted Toyota Premio with an obscured license plate, struck a vehicle in the opposite lane and fled the scene, breaking the side mirror. When the civilian followed to address the damage, Persaud reportedly refused to lower his window and declared, “I’m a mad man. I’m crazy.”

The report states Persaud then brandished a police-issued firearm, pointing it at the civilian while threatening, “I would buss you head anytime” and “I would buss up your face tonight.” Eyewitnesses said he appeared intoxicated.

This is not Persaud’s first firearm-related incident; last year he allegedly brandished a weapon at the OBL Club in Port Mourant, an event reportedly handled internally.

The We Invest In Nationhood Party is demanding answers from the Guyana Police Force, calling for details on whether Persaud was breathalyzed, if disciplinary action was taken, whether the firearm was seized, and what role, if any, Commander Bacchus played following the incident.

The opposition party stressed that no officer is above the law and has alerted international bodies, including the U.S. Embassy Department of Homeland Security, Canadian and British High Commissions, the UN Human Rights Delegation, and the EU Delegation in Guyana.

POLICE REPORT NAMES REGION 6 COMMANDER SHIVPERSAUD BACCHUS’ DRIVER DANNY PERSAUD IN FIREARM THREAT INCIDENT
official police report filed at the Reliance Police Station in Berbice details a serious incident that occurred at 9:02PM last night, involving Region #6 Police Commander Bacchus’ driver, Danny Persaud.
Sergeant 21959 Danny Persaud, while driving a heavily tinted Toyota Premio with an obscured license plate, committed a hit and run, striking a vehicle in the opposite lane and breaking its side mirror.
The report notes that Sergeant Persaud did not stop after the collision and attempted to drive away. The civilian turned around and followed the vehicle in an effort to address the damage peacefully.
When contact was made, the report states that Sergeant Persaud refused to wind down his window. Upon eventually doing so, he allegedly stated, “I’m a mad man. I’m crazy.”
Sergeant Danny Persaud, who appeared to be intoxicated as reported by several eyewitnesses, then removed a firearm, pointed it at the civilian, and made threats, including:
* “I would buss you head anytime”
* “I would buss up your face tonight”
The firearm identified as a police-issued weapon.
There is a previous incident involving the same Sergeant Persaud last year at the OBL Club in Port Mourant, where he brandished a firearm. This was covered down internally by senior officers.
WIN is calling on the Guyana Police Force to clearly state:
* What disciplinary action has been taken against Sergeant Danny Persaud
* Whether the officer was breathalyzed
* Whether the firearm was seized
* What role, if any, the Region #6 Commander Bacchus played following the incident of his personal driver.
No officer, regardless of assignment or rank, should be above the law.
