Former United States Ambassador to Guyana, Sarah Ann Lynch, is featured in a three-part interview on Straight Up with Mark Benschop, the nightly radio programme aired on 107.1 FM, beginning this evening, 8 p.m. Guyana and EST.

The interview, hosted by social activist Mark Benschop, will be broadcast over multiple nights and is structured to explore Lynch’s experiences and perspectives in depth. Benschop said the first segment will focus on the human side of Lynch’s diplomatic journey, the second will address broad-based regional and policy issues, and the third will offer a more comprehensive discussion.

“The interactions will be great,” Benschop told Village Voice News.

Lynch served as US Ambassador to Guyana from 2019 to 2023 after being nominated by President Donald Trump on September 13, 2018. She officially presented her credentials to then President David Granger on March 13, 2019, and played a key role in US–Guyana relations during a period of heightened geopolitical and economic interest in the country.

In December 2023, she transitioned from her ambassadorial post to become Civilian Deputy to the Commander and Foreign Policy Advisor at the US Southern Command in Miami, Florida. In that role, Lynch oversees the Command’s Human Rights and Women, Peace, and Security programmes, while working to strengthen partnerships with foreign governments and US interagency counterparts.

The interview series is expected to provide listeners with insight into Lynch’s diplomatic career, and her reflections on Guyana, regional security, and international engagement.
