Neil Barry elected president of Georgetown Cricket Association

Former national cricketer, Neil Barry has been elected President of the Georgetown Cricket Association, the body said in a release Saturday.

The association last week held its annual statutory annual General Elections, at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) clubhouse to elect the executive body which will serve for the 2021-2022 period. Delegates from some 15 member clubs from across the capital were represented and participated.

Through a well-organised free, fair and transparent elections process, a highly competent and diverse executive body was elected, the GCA said. Barry who is also President of the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC). is a former junior and senior National Cricketer and has been Vice President of the GCA for the past 12 years, the release stated. Azad Ibrahim has been elected, First Vice President; Roger Harper, Second Vice President- Demerara Cricket Club (DCC). A former West Indies and Guyana cricketer and coach, the cricket veteran is the current Chairman of the West Indies Selection Committee.

Deborah McNichols, Secretary; Imran Ally, (MYO)Treasurer; Andre McFarlene (Captain GDF);  Amitkumar Das, Assistant Treasurer; Emily Dodson, Marketing Manager; Devish Ramjattan, Public Relations Officer; Shaun Massiah, Chairman, Competitions Committee; Mark Harper, Chairman, Senior Selector and Roderick Lovell, Chairman, Junior Selector.

The GCA thanked its partners in Government, Business, Member Clubs, Players, The Umpires, and the general public for their past unyielding support.
