Dear Editor,

I am just asking. There is a drainage trench in Land of Canaan on the East Bank, Demerara that is being sand filled. Did any government agency give permission for a drainage trench to be sand filled at Land of Canaan on East Bank of Demerara? It is the drainage trench before the ‘five-door’ sluice. The part of the trench that is being sand filled is on the eastern side of the East Bank Public Road. The part of the drainage trench on the western side between the Public Road and the Demerara River is not sand filled. I would like to know if the Drainage and irrigation Authority, Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission, Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Ministry of Public Works, Central Housing and Planning Authority or any other relevant agency give permission for this drainage trench to be sand filled?
