The Police Force, in announcing that an investigation has been launched into the discovery of the items, said the items were discovered at around 4:30hrs on Tuesday in a silver grey car.

In an attempt to evade a stop and search operation, which was at the time being conducted at the Weldaad Public Road, the car drove into another street. However, the Police pursued the vehicle.

“Following this observation the ranks proceeded to the vehicle when two persons exited the car and fled the scene leaving the driver alone,” the Force said.

A search was conducted in the presence of the said driver, and two boxes containing a total of 35, 12 gauge ammunition; 1 slasher; 1 Yamaha boat engine; 1 gasoline bottle; 1 RB battery; 1 power bar; 1 blender; and  1 toolkit with tools were found.

Further checks conducted in the area where the occupants exited and fled led to the discovery of a Remington 12 gauge shotgun.

Same were lodged, and driver arrested as the investigation continues.
