A Muslim burial typically involves a simple and dignified process. The deceased is washed, wrapped in a white shroud, and buried in a grave facing Mecca. The burial is usually conducted as soon as possible, often within 24 hours of death. Mourners gather for JANAZAH prayers, which are performed in congregation, and offer condolences to the family.
The burial service emphasizes the importance of humility and equality in death, reflecting Islamic values of compassion and respect for the deceased. Today, JUNE 22, 2025, at 12:30 PM such a service would be conducted at QUEENSTOWN MASJID with these traditions in mind, providing a solemn and respectful farewell to the deceased. IMAM and Captain Yacoob Mazaharally was a renowned Guyanese businessman and aviator, has passed away, with a wake held at MYO, Thomas Lands.
Capt. Yacoob, a VISIONARY, with STALWART PATRIOTISM and EXCEPTIONAL DEVOTION, LED a significant role in Guyana’s AVIATION industry, following in the footsteps of his relative, Mr. Yacoob Ally, who founded Air Services Limited (ASL) over 51 years ago. ASL has grown to become a reliable and efficient air service provider in Guyana, serving the country’s interior destinations.
Aviation Pioneer: His contributions to Guyana’s aviation industry are notable, with ASL becoming a prominent player under his family’s leadership. He founded ASL, which started with one Darter aircraft and five employees, and has a fleet of 25 aircraft, including helicopters, offering numerous services.
Businessman: Captain Mazaharally’s entrepreneurial spirit and leadership likely influenced the growth and development of ASL.
Community Impact: His passing has been acknowledged by the community, with a wake held in his honor.
Impact on Guyana’s Aviation Industry: ASL has expanded significantly since its inception, supporting industries like mining, tourism, and government, and operating a flight training school approved by the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority.
Legacy: Captain Mazarally’s family continues to be involved in the aviation industry, with his son, Captain A. Mazaharally, serving as the Managing Director of ASL, and his daughter, Captain Feriel Ally, being Guyana’s first female certified to operate turboprop engines.
ASL recently opened a new departure lounge and commissioned two Cessna Grand Caravans, named after employees Bhesham Persaud and Chandrashekar Balgrim.
Air Services Limited has grown to be Guyana’s LARGEST DOMESTIC AVIATION OPERATOR. Started from a dream over 51 years ago by Mr. Yacoob Ally, with a single 4-seater Darter Air Commander, the company’s growth accelerated under the command of his SON Captain Mazaharally, an experienced pilot who flies each one of the 22 aircraft in the ASL fleet in addition to the Bell 206 Long Range Helicopter for which he is also a QUALIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR.
