Dear Editor,

I have taken careful note towards the words by the current Vice Chairman of Region Four Samuel Sandy, only now Samuel Sandy’s sudden moral awakening, would be laughable if it weren’t so deeply insulting to the intelligence of the Guyanese people.

Only now—five years after the 2020 elections, with another election cycle looming—Sandy has found his voice. Only now, after aligning himself with the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), he comes forward, claiming to hold the “truth.” But Guyanese aren’t fools. We see this for exactly what it is: opportunism dressed up as conscience.

Where was Samuel Sandy when the nation was crying out for clarity? Where was he when ordinary citizens were protesting, pleading, and demanding transparency in the days following the elections? Where was this photographic “evidence” when it could have mattered? Silent. Absent. Missing in action. I wish to remind him that region four isn’t East Coast or East Bank alone, and he should be locked up because of his claims now. Dam dotish!!! And yet he took up the position of the regional vice chairman with the same APNU+AFC votes. Where was your integrity then?

Let’s be clear: this isn’t bravery. This is betrayal. Not just of a political party, but of a nation. Sandy admits he had the Statements of Poll, the pictures, the data—but chose to sit on it. Why? Because of fear? Or was it calculation?

Now, conveniently seated as Vice Chairman in Region Four—thanks to political realignment—he sings a new tune. But no amount of PPP patronage will buy back the trust he forfeited. This “confession” isn’t about integrity. It’s about survival. It’s about singing for your supper in a government you once opposed but now depend on for relevance.

And let us not forget: the very PPP he now endorses won’t ever truly trust him either. A man who betrays one side when the winds change will betray the other when it suits him. Loyalty is not his currency—opportunism.

The Guyanese people deserve truth, yes—but not manufactured on political timelines, not whispered only when it’s safe, and not brandished only when the speaker has switched jerseys.

We will not forget. We will not be swayed. And we will not be fooled.

The Guyanese people deserve better. And they deserve it from those who stand up in the storm—not just when the coast is clear.

Yours truly,
Pt.Ubraj Narine, JP, COA
Former Staff Sgt.(GDF), Mayor
City of Georgetown
