Port Kaituma cook dies after being pinned by fallen tree at mining camp

A 32-year-old Port Kaituma cook died Wednesday after a tree reportedly fell on a mining camp pinning her to the ground.
The dead woman has been identified as Domelley Cyrus. The incident occurred at Nessano Backdam, North West District (Region One).
According to reports, on January 9, 2021, the woman started working as a cook with a 27-year-old man on his 4-inch dredge at the same location.

At about 14:00h on January 13, the tree fell on the camp, pinning the woman and leaving her motionless.
The Police was summoned and she was taken to the Port Kaituma District Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police are investigating an alleged incident resulting in the death of 32 year-old Domelley Cyrus of Port Kaituma, Water Front N.W.D which occurred on 2021/01/13 at Nessano Backdam N.W.D.

Cyrus’ body is currently at the Port Kaituma Mortuary awaiting Post Mortem Examination.
