Registration Ends Fri 30th May, 2025- Take Action To Ensure You’re Listed To Vote!!!

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is currently conducting a National Registration Exercise to provide eligible persons with opportunities to apply for registration, change of name(s), corrections to incorrect particulars, and transfers.

WHO CAN REGISTER?

Anyone who will be fourteen (14) years and older by the 30^th June, 2025, and is a Guyanese citizen by birth, descent, or naturalisation, or is a citizen from a Commonwealth country living in Guyana for one year or more, is eligible for registration during this exercise.

HOW TO APPLY FOR REGISTRATION

• You must visit the GECOM Registration Office that is responsible for the area in which you live to apply for registration
• You must be in possession of the required source documents as might be necessary to support your application for registration or other transaction.

APPLYING FOR NAME CHANGE, CORRECTION(S) AND/OR A TRANSFER

Persons who are already registered could: –

• apply for Name Change in the case of any change of name(s) by (i) marriage, (ii) acquisition of a new Birth Certificate due to change of name in the Register of Birth, or (iii) by Deed Poll.
• apply for Correction(s), if there is incorrect information on their National ID Card,
• apply for a Transfer if they have moved from one address to another since they were registered.

SOURCE DOCUMENTS

• Applicants must present original Birth Certificate, Valid Passport, Adoption Certificate, Naturalisation or Certificate of Registration, and Original Birth Certificate along with Deed Poll (where applicable) in the case of applications for New Registration.

• In the case of application for Change or Correction of name or other particulars applicants must present (i) Original Marriage Certificate, (ii) Original Marriage Certificate and original Decree Absolute for divorced woman, (iii) Original Birth Certificate along with original Deed Poll, and (iv) Original Birth Certificate issued due to change of name in the Register of Birth.

WHERE YOU CAN APPLY FOR REGISTRATION

Simply visit the Registration Office that is responsible for the area in which you live, during normal working hours to apply for Registration.

If you are not registered, your name will not appear in the Official List of Electors and therefore, you will not be allowed to vote at the upcoming General and Regional Elections.
