On this International Women’s Day, the Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) stands in solidarity with women across the globe, especially those in Guyana, as we continue to strive for gender equality and the empowerment of women in all spheres of life.

Today, we recognise the tireless contributions of women workers, many of whom continue to face unequal pay, limited access to opportunities, and systemic barriers to advancement. GTUC remains committed to fighting for the rights and dignity of working women, advocating for fair wages, improved working conditions, and equal representation in all decision-making processes.

As we reflect on the progress made, we also acknowledge the work that lies ahead. Women in Guyana and worldwide have been at the forefront of societal change, and we must continue to support and amplify their voices. This day is a reminder that true equality is not only a goal, but a necessity for a just and thriving society.

GTUC calls on all to join in the collective effort to break down barriers, confront discrimination, and build a future where women are not only equal in law but in practice. Let us work together to honour and support the invaluable contributions of women, today and every day.
