Dear Editor,

On Sunday, I attended the annual celebration of Ghana Day. The organisers led by Sister Penda deserve our praise for continuing this commemoration, which began before our own Independence.

How did he die? Who was he fronting for?

The feature address was delivered by Aubrey Norton, Leader of the PNC.  This address demonstrated careful research and dealt adroitly with issues relevant to every Guyanese, irrespective of age, political loyalty or race, and I recommend its contents be studied by all of us from the President to the Peasant.

Mr. Norton boldly drew a clear line between loyalty to one’s race and debilitating racism, a necessary distinction and understanding at this time of our history. That same day, I mingled and met with citizens who referred to the confusion and horrors related to the cash grant. The letter published by Roysdale Forde dealt with this tragic situation, and as I dictate this letter, there are persons, particularly the elders who, with the increased cost of living, are in greatest need of this temporary relief.

Whoever is responsible should go back to the drawing board and cater for the elderly, real needy  and save citizens the discomfort, humiliation and confusion, which now characterizes this process.

Yours truly,
Hamilton Green
Elder.
