New Amsterdam Prison ranks on Wednesday discovered 1,730 grams of narcotics and contraband at penitentiary following a search of the north western dormitory at about 19:30h.
According to reports, during the search a salt bag was found abandoned at the north western side of the compound containing two cartons of cigarettes, small amounts of fronto leaves, six packs of bamboo and 17 bulky parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The matter was reported to the Central Police Station and where the suspected cannabis was handed over and weighed.
Investigations are ongoing.
